Normally, American Christians shouldn’t support someone who is a child abuser and tax evader, but religious feelings cloud their judgment, and they begin to ignore Trump’s wrongdoings. But let’s still say this: whoever uses religion in the world, whoever exploits the good feelings of religious people to come to power, becomes one of the biggest thieves in that country. The closest example is Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban. In 16 years, he became the dictator of Europe. It is said that he made himself and his family one of the richest families in the world.
All Arab leaders are religious. Iran is also like that. So religious that they oppose women not wearing headscarves and men shaving their beards for religious reasons. For example, Türkiye has an Islamist government. When President Erdogan came to power, he lived in a small house. Showing his engagement ring, he said, “I have nothing but this ring. If you ever see me with anything other than this ring, know that I have stolen it.” Today, he is the 8th richest leader in the world. His country, however, is a world leader in corruption, third in inflation, and 96th in the happiness index. 1 Turkish lira is 40 US dollars. 1 Turkish lira is 60 pounds sterling. 65% of the population lives below the poverty line.
But Erdogan increased the number of Quran courses and Imam Hatip high schools that train religious leaders in the country. It didn’t work. Because religion doesn’t produce economics, it doesn’t produce reason. It only serves to herd the masses who have no value other than religion. Trump tried this too, but after the backlash, he removed the AI photo that showed him as Jesus Christ.
We hope that religious people will stop wanting religion to be a tool of political emotions.
