If anyone in the Trump administration can interrogate him, they must tell him this: ‘A person cannot both try to kill and destroy their opponent and offer them peace. The other side will not accept a peace offer from murderers.’ Trump cannot still blockade Iranian ships in the Sea of Hormuz and say to Iran, ‘Let’s make peace.’ He has to extend a branch. He may think, ‘If I pressure Iran, they will be persuaded to make peace,’ but Iran has nothing left to lose at this point. It has already lost almost everything; only its honor remains, and it cannot offer that to Trump.
Tehran, rightly, stated that it had “no plans for the next round of peace talks” after the US sent a delegation led by Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan.
Trump must now make a decision: does he want real peace or a victory for himself? This war will no longer have a winner. The biggest loser is the USA, and it is no longer possible to change that. We must learn to retreat wisely and forget about winning. Sometimes, a timely retreat can even be considered a victory in history; at least you won’t have killed your own soldiers.
