Blair was right for the first time: Starmer had no plan or project whatsoever.

Sir Keir Starmer, responding to accusations that former Labour Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair’s government lacked a “coherent plan,” defended his own policy choices given the circumstances he inherited.

Starmer actually had only one project: to remove rivals like Andy Burnham from the party, to prevent anyone from challenging him.

Starmer is exaggerating again. They came to power but had no plan on anything. They received the same vote today as Reform UK. The public was tired of the Conservatives and felt the need for change. It wasn’t because Labour produced a plan or project. Starmer was an unpopular politician then, and he is today. Nothing has changed for the public.

Nigel Farage is also not a politician embraced by the public; a large portion of those who voted for him may even find him unappealing. Their reason for voting for him is the failure of Labour in the last two years. Blair may be talking nonsense on many issues, but he is absolutely right on this. Starmer actually had only one project: to remove Andy Burham from the party and prevent him from running against Blair. Beyond that, he had no project for the country or the party.

Using the country’s circumstances as an excuse is also foolish. Labour had the most ideal conditions. The public was tired of the scandals and garden parties of Conservative prime ministers, but today people are starting to say that even Rishi Sunak, the last Conservative prime minister, was a far better prime minister than Starmer.
