The best thing Trump has done since taking office was meeting with the leader of North Korea. After meeting with Kim Jong-un, Trump announced that he would eliminate the tensions between the two nations. American politicians and media—accustomed to governing the public by manufacturing enemies—are furious about this development.

With this policy, the US is at a historic turning point; it is moving away from its historic adversaries. It appears to be seeking to sustain itself through friendship rather than hostility. This situation offers some relief from the pitiful position Trump found himself in regarding Iran—a predicament largely caused by Israel.
The American people are also weary of constant war, for war strikes the public, not those who instigate it. Politicians first manufacture an enemy, then try to convince the public that this enemy threatens to destroy the country—all while striving to boost their own vote counts.
Moving closer to the US represents a historic turning point for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as well. He can now step away from hostile rhetoric and prepare for a more peaceful environment. He has realized that his nation need not be one perpetually poised for war, but can also be one ready for dialogue. We hope this historic moment endures; it is not the peoples of the world who ruin it, but the foolish and cunning politicians they elect.
