The release of Sadiq Khan’s pilgrimage footage is a political message.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan went to Mecca to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Taking advantage of the break given for Eid al-Adha, Sadiq Khan shared photos on social media, effectively sending political messages to those who, like him, are Muslim.

According to Muslims, religion is a matter between God and man, and when it is displayed publicly, it becomes a message, a way for Muslims to prove their faith to others and a show of force to non-Muslims. If this message is delivered by a politician, it means they are sending a political message. By publishing images of his pilgrimage in Mecca, Sadiq Khan was essentially sending political messages to Muslims in London. In a sense, he seems to have used his faith for political purposes.

People in Islamic countries always desire and support leaders who are like them and devoutly religious. In some countries, even when voting for parties, many people question whether candidates’ foreheads touch the prayer mat.

Non-Muslims accept this as a belief and see no harm in accepting it, but in reality, it’s a hidden message for those who understand. Khan has sent a special message to non-Muslims like himself.

Most Muslims imagine leaders who read the Quran and talk about religion. Someone who prays and reads the Quran is far more important to them than talent and morality. That’s why almost all leaders in nearly all Islamic countries are religious but wealthy. They engage in corruption, but the public ignores this corruption because it’s necessary to govern the country.

For example, in Türkiye, a religious scholar (Hikmet Karaman) even said, “Corruption is not theft,” to excuse the actions of President Erdoğan, who was caught red-handed engaging in corruption. Especially for the rulers and ordinary Muslims in a non-Muslim country, that country deserves to be plundered by them. Because there is no Islamic government in that country. Every irregularity and theft is permissible. That’s what they believe.

What Khan did is a subliminal message, and it’s using religion for political purposes. No offense intended.

It is said that there are 3.8 million Muslims in London, and Sadiq Khan will be running for a fourth term in the upcoming elections. That’s for sure…
