The BBC, which does nothing but constantly increase the taxes it collects from the public and has many unwatched channels like BBC 3 and BBC 4, has finally decided to gradually lay off 2,000 people. We at Bymigrant have been criticizing this for years, but no one listened. Besides BBC News, it had very few watched programs and was paying millions of pounds to unwatched TV and radio channels and websites. Even the producers and presenters of these unwatched programs were being paid exorbitant amounts.
Of course, those running the BBC weren’t paying this money out of their own pockets. We asked repeatedly: ‘If the BBC executives owned the channel, would they be so generously paying millions of pounds to unnecessary people and programs?’
The answer was a question in itself, and everyone gave the same answer: of course they wouldn’t.
Now they’ve seen the truth and decided to gradually lay off 2,000 people. They’re talking about savings of around £500 million a year.
We congratulate the administration that made the decision. Another question we had about the BBC, which constantly pours money into absurd programs by increasing public taxes, was why it doesn’t accept advertising. For example, the BBC broadcasting in the USA accepts advertising for America, but not for the United Kingdom. This taboo definitely needed to be broken. This taboo still exists, but it seems that the increasing economic crisis in the country will force the BBC to accept advertising. Constantly collecting taxes from a public struggling with economic hardship both draws criticism and brings governments closer to the idea that the BBC should be privatized.
