A strange malady has begun to emerge in recent years. The local population in this country, in particular, has started blaming immigrants for all their own failures. It is a veritable sickness. What they call “immigrants” is actually a form of covert anti-Muslim sentiment; their real target is Muslims and their culture, but since they cannot say this outright, they frame it in general terms as “immigrants.”
A YouTuber once held a microphone out to an elderly local man on the street, and the man said exactly this: “When I was a child, there were lots of British shops on this street. Now, none of them are left. They’ve all closed down. In their place, we have butchers, greengrocers, supermarkets, restaurants, and cafes selling halal food.”
The YouTuber really ought to have asked this man—who seemed to have a valid point at first glance—a follow-up question; however, the goal wasn’t to inquire, but to elicit anti-immigrant responses. That is why he didn’t ask.
Let us ask the real question: “So, why are these British shops closing? Why are the owners forced to shut them down? Do immigrants come along, hold a gun to these people’s heads, and forcibly seize their businesses?”
None of that happens. The owners of these shops are actually leaving the country. You see, when locals here come into money, they often emigrate to places like Australia or the USA, renting out the properties they leave behind. Another trend in recent years—especially in London—is for property owners to sell their homes and business premises at high prices, buy cheaper homes in warmer regions, and live a comfortable life on the remaining funds.
In short, British shops are closing because, from a business perspective, they simply do not appeal to the entire population. They stock and sell products tailored to the lifestyles of people like themselves. Their operating hours mirror those of government offices: opening around 7, 8, or 9 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m. None of them open on weekends. Even major supermarkets like Tesco didn’t open on weekends thirty years ago; it was immigrants who introduced businesses with extended operating hours to this country. Immigrants brought 24-hour shops here.
IMMIGRANTS ARE A LIVING ORGANISM WITHIN THIS COUNTRY.
Immigrants constitute a living organism in this country. There are shops catering to every aspect of life. If you visit an immigrant-run supermarket, you can find products from every nation; however, at a Tesco or Sainsbury’s, you generally find only British products. Consequently, immigrants seek out shops that carry their own cultural products and patronize those businesses.
Immigrants introduced 24-hour shops to this country, and the presence of these shops forced white Britons to change their habits as well.
Another question arises: where do these immigrants get the money to buy these shops? Where does the capital to cover such high rents come from?
For one thing, immigrants in this country work long hours. Even those working the least put in 12-hour days. In businesses like restaurants and kebab shops, working hours can reach up to 16 hours a day.
As for the immigrants who manage to invest here without having saved the money through local employment, the majority bring capital from their home countries—often by borrowing money or selling assets like houses and land back home.
Take V. Dede, for example: he sold his house and land in Türkiye to purchase an established restaurant for £250,000, only to lose £600,000 over the course of five years. In the end, he went bankrupt and was forced to sell his restaurant for £50,000.
Immigrants brought significant capital into this country. They purchased businesses on the high streets, while white Britons—who viewed themselves as the true owners of the country—sold these properties to them at high prices and charged them steep rents. No one forced them to do so.
It might be difficult for them to admit this, but let them answer the final question: how many white Britons have moved to—and bought homes in—Turkey, Spain, Italy, and Greece in recent years? Even figures like Nigel Farage, who portray themselves as patriots, had neither investments nor businesses in this country; they had placed all their investments and purchased their homes in European nations.
Yet, these people want to cleanse the country of immigrants, even though the vast majority of immigrants are the country’s true patriots. They shouldn’t take offense at this.
