Why did 100 MPs support PM, who suffered the heaviest defeat in the history?

The button has been pressed for Starmer. Four ministers have resigned, and 90 MPs have collected signatures to pressure Prime Minister Starmer to resign. Bymigrant had previously written that “Starmer will only resign if the Boris Johnson method is used.” Boris Johnson, too, faced the resignations of ministers and pressure from MPs after losing the trust of the public and the Conservatives, and he couldn’t withstand it and resigned.

Four ministers called for Starmer’s resignation, but Starmer showed he loved his position more than his countr

Starmer’s Labour Party suffered a historic defeat in the recent local elections, a first in world history. Two years after being the leading party in the general elections, the Labour Party became the fourth party in the elections held two years later, suffering a historic defeat.

Normally, Starmer should have resigned without any pressure, preserving his honor and dignity, but he did the exact opposite. Instead of resigning, he blamed everything on Brexit and argued that the country’s economic crisis was due to Brexit. He had spoken of “ruin rhetoric” when they came to power and said they inherited a mess.

He’s still insisting. The economy is on the verge of collapse, the pound is experiencing its worst days in the last 10 years, but he continues to resist the pressure because he loves his seat more than his country.

87 MPs signed a petition for his resignation, but 100 MPs plus backbenchers announced their support for Starmer.

This is what’s strange. Even stranger than Starmer’s resistance. Why did they support him?

There are many possibilities, but let’s ironically list some of them below:

1- The fact that the Labour Party is now the fourth largest party and has largely lost public support almost everywhere doesn’t bother these people.

2- By aligning themselves with Starmer, they might expect a ministerial position in the new term.

3- The fact that the Labour Party came in fourth in the local elections didn’t make them happy. They want it to be six in the general election.

It’s easy to understand the reasons of those calling for Starmer’s resignation. The party suffered one of its heaviest defeats in its history, and Starmer is clearly the most hated leader. The Labour Party no longer has a chance of success with Starmer.

So what is the motive of those who support Starmer? That’s unclear. Perhaps it’s all of the above.
