The first result of its historic summit: No visas required for travel to China.

Prime Minister Starmer met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Both leaders, accompanied by their respective delegations, expressed their satisfaction with the developing relations between their countries, which they described as enhancing their respective nations. Starmer, the first prime minister to visit China in eight years, said he was pleased with the trade agreements between the two countries. Xi Jinping shared this happiness, stating that he was very happy to host the UK leader.

Meanwhile, Starmer announced that UK citizens would be able to enter China without a visa and stay for 30 days. So, this short visit has already yielded its first results. Hopefully, this visit will lead to even faster and greater economic development than expected.

Starmer deserves applause for one thing: those in the UK who may favor the USA more than the UK itself might be uncomfortable with the developing political and economic relations with China, but it’s not that important. To them, we can say this: if you completely sever ties with one country and fall into the arms of another, you will always be the loser. After Trump, it became clear that being an “ally of the USA” has no practical benefits, and is even harmful. Because the bill for all the stupid things the USA does, especially in the Middle East, is only passed on to its allies. While Europe is dealing with migrants, the USA can say that migrants are killing Europe because of the increased number of migrants due to the wars it itself caused.

Being an ally of the USA might be good, but we must remember that the USA is also our ally. Alliance should be based on the principle of equality. If one side constantly benefits while the other faces painful consequences, then there is an unequal alliance.
