Thomas Tuchel quipped: We played the best match of the tournament.

After the match against Argentina, David Beckham stated a fact known to the whole world: over the last 20 years, Messi has achieved great success against the world’s biggest teams. If you fail to stop Messi in a match, you lose—and stopping Messi is one of the toughest tasks there is. England failed to stop Messi and lost.

Thomas Tuchel, however, made the most ridiculous statement after the match, claiming that England had played their best game of the tournament. In reality, we played our worst game of the tournament and lost a match where the outcome was already decided. He made substitutions with 25 minutes left to play—at a time when we were leading 1–0. He acted as if we were playing against Mexico; by pulling the team back into defense for those 25 minutes, he gave Argentina the chance to attack from all sides. A goal was clearly looming, yet he failed to see it, and we lost a match we should have won because of absurd tactics.

TUCHEL MUST GO

Tuchel is not the right person to manage the England national team. The team hasn’t played well since the start of the tournament; they won some matches merely on reputation and luck. Even in the games they won, they failed to inspire hope among the fans. England possesses one of the world’s best squads, yet on the sidelines stands a manager who lacks the tactical knowledge to utilize it and cannot read the game. His post-match statement was essentially a mockery of millions of fans. We saw an England side that held possession for only 12 minutes out of 90 and managed a total of just three shots, while Argentina controlled the ball for 88 minutes—yet he still comes out and claims they played their best match of the tournament. Frankly, any manager could have taken this team to the semi-finals. Even someone who had just started their coaching career could have taken England—a team boasting one of the world’s best players—to the semi-finals.

Thomas Tuchel’s lack of tactical knowledge and inability to read the game are the real reasons for the defeat. There is no point in managing the national team.
