Prime Minister Keir Starmer will address the House of Commons this afternoon, amid mounting questions surrounding his appointment of Peter Mandelson as US Ambassador. Starmer will likely offer excuses to justify his position and assert he doesn’t need to resign, but he must be honest. What is his relationship with Lord Mandelson? Why did he insist on appointing him as US Ambassador despite negative reports about him?

He must definitively close this matter and return to his own agenda. He must understand that he cannot prevent the truth from coming to light by hiding it. He could also say, “Mandelson is a very old friend of mine. I received very important help from him. I wanted to reciprocate the favors he did for me.” That would be more honest. Saying, “I trusted Lord Mandelson, but he lied to me,” is no longer working.

Besides, where in the world does someone come forward and say, “Mr. Prime Minister, you are appointing me as ambassador to the USA, but don’t count on my excuses. I have ties to child gangs.” Was he expecting her to say, “I received a significant amount of money from Epstein, and I’m grateful to him”? Of course, she had to hide her relationship with Epstein. Starmer couldn’t possibly have such an ordinary mind. Because she’s intelligent. With the statement she’ll make today, she will either completely close the Mandelson case or pave the way for him resignation more quickly.
