Trump’s foolish stubbornness regarding Greenland continues. As a former businessman accustomed to buying everything, he’s threatening to impose 25% tariffs on eight countries to buy the island from Denmark.
Trump doesn’t care about NATO or Europe. He’s someone who cares about himself first, then the US. While O. Starmer and Macron are openly opposing Trump’s foolish tariffs, the opposition has begun condemning Trump for his threats.
European Union and UK leaders must prove themselves against Trump, who previously belittled them. Trump insulted all leaders and countries by saying “there are no leaders in Europe.” European leaders need to prove to Trump that the USA exists because of Europe. The USA is nothing without Europe. What made this country strong was Europe’s unwavering support for the USA. This was a huge mistake, but now they are facing the consequences. The USA cannot do anything alone against Russia, the Middle East, China, and Asia. It needs Europe’s support. Trump’s ego prevents him from seeing these realities, which is why he insists on Greenland Island.
While the 25% tariff might scare Europe, Europe also has significant leverage to retaliate against the USA with its own tariffs. It can take action against large companies like Google and Tesla. The USA is nothing without its large international companies. What makes this country valuable is not people like Trump, but the technology giants that govern the world. Europe can impose serious sanctions against them.
Europe has a major advantage in the Ukraine and China issue. Trump cannot control these regions from so far away. For example, to counter the USA’s desire to weaken China’s economic power, all tariffs on Chinese automobile and large companies could be lifted. New agreements could be made with China and India. Trump’s tariffs might affect Europe, but counter-tariffs imposed by Europe could be far more effective.
European leaders must now prove their leadership. Fear will only turn them and their countries into hell.
