Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden stated that young people who reject a taxpayer-funded job after 18 months of unemployment will be stripped of their right to claim benefits.
It’s normal for the elderly and disabled to receive benefits because they have the energy to start a new job and are eligible for employment. However, it’s unacceptable for young people to receive benefits. Rejecting young people from receiving benefits also means preventing them from seeking employment. Young people, capable of doing any job, will be forced to sit around and watch television when they can’t find work that appeals to them.
It’s crucial that these young people, more than migrants, have their benefits cut and find jobs. If a young person has no dreams, isn’t doing anything to improve themselves, and simply expects a monthly salary of £400-500, they are of no benefit to themselves, society, or the country. The benefits they receive from the state are a major obstacle to their dreams. Young people need to return to work quickly, be productive, and dream.
This will be one of the greatest favors the government will do.
