Is Starmer’s last hope for staying in power supporting the war with Iran?

Iran continues its war with heavy but reliable missiles. While Trump and Netanyahu declare almost daily that they have “finished” and “destroyed” Iran, Iran continues to strike its targets. In today’s attacks, Iran launched a missile attack on Dimona in southern Israel, injuring at least 47 people. The target is believed to be a nuclear facility about 13 km away.

This attack is terrifying for Israel! Because Israeli missiles have begun to hit any area they want. Netanyahu, who deceives his own people by saying “we have the Iron Dome,” is unable to speak out against these missiles.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, implicitly threatened the UK, which is trying to allow Trump to use its bases. The Starmer government initially stood its ground and challenged Trump, but it couldn’t withstand him. Starmer’s strength lasted only a week, and it bowed to Trump’s threats. Perhaps he had to bend the rules because the struggling economy, coupled with pressure on Starmer to resign, led him, like Netanyahu, Zelensky, and Trump, to support the war.

Now, within the party, people are saying about Starmer, “If you lack courage, if you can’t stand by your promises, why are you challenging us?” Starmer is someone without vision, who makes short-sighted decisions and then abandons them. He lacks experience in government and, worse, doesn’t seek advice from those who understand government. He’s a less courageous version of Trump.

The British public had been hopeful about the war after Starmer’s courageous pronouncements, but a week later, they are becoming increasingly uneasy. Britain, directly involved in the war, will suffer its first blow from those who are honest. The number of tourists will decrease. Starmer hasn’t even reached the level of Macron, or even Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. He insists on remaining at the head of the party and is trying to maintain this position by amateurishly supporting the war.
