British government makes historic decision: No permission for the use of bases.

The arrest of Prince Andrew was overshadowed by the second major event today: the British government’s refusal to allow the US to use British military bases to support potential attacks on Iraq.

In the past, the US used RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and the British overseas territory of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean to conduct attacks in the Middle East.

Those days are now behind us. After the US threatened to increase tariffs on British goods, it’s unlikely the old strategic relationship will return. The British government has realized that the US only uses countries for its own interests and then discards them. A strategic partnership only exists if it serves the interests of the US.

The British government may also not see intervention in Iran as necessary at this stage. The real reason for intervention in Iran is Israel. Trump is under threat from Israel and, by weakening Iran in the region, is actually trying to lay the foundations of an Israeli empire. Generally, all European countries, especially France and Germany, share this same concern. At this stage, only Israel supports Trump’s intervention in Iran. While Germany and France haven’t explicitly opposed it, their actions demonstrate their support for the USA.

Question: If the USA cannot use British bases to strike Iran, which bases could it use?
