We thought US bases would protect us, but now we are protecting them!

The Gulf states, under attack from Iran, paid a heavy price for granting bases to the USA. As Iranian missiles rained down, they saw these bases empty, American soldiers withdrawing, and the US failing to defend them. Then they started tweeting. A Shahriyar official said exactly this: “When we gave bases to the USA, we thought these bases would protect us. Now we are protecting them.”
