The 80-year-old Trump has been targeting the 35-year-old woman for days, threatening to send her back to Somalia. But he has completely lost his balance. Lately, he has shifted his focus from Omar to direct criticism of the Somali people. At a meeting two days ago, he stated that 88% of Somali immigrants are living off benefits and contribute nothing to the USA. He said, “Somalia isn’t even a state, it has no army, no military,” and called all 9 million American Somali immigrants “bigots.” He said that all Somalis should return to their country, that they constantly criticize the US, and that their contribution to the country is zero. Finally, he called all Somali people “garbage.”
Ilhan Omar, however, defends herself, stating that she is an American citizen and will not go anywhere. Omar, who described Trump’s calling Somalis “garbage” as disgusting, accused Trump of being anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant.
First, let’s say this: Trump may be right in some of what he said. 88% of Somali immigrants can be fed with benefits. This is not just their problem, it’s also the problem of the US government that gives them benefits. What criteria did they use to give these people benefits? Who gave citizenship to 9 million Somali immigrants? If there is a criminal element in granting citizenship to Somalis, that crime is not only theirs, but also the state’s.
Secondly, Trump started speaking with his emotions again. He completely lost his mind and targeted a young woman, threatening to send her back to Somalia. Let’s remind him first:
