Anti-war activists’ reaction to FIFA: Matches shouldn’t be played in the USA!

An interesting campaign is underway on social media. Those opposed to the war with Iran have begun calling for the USA to be protested against due to the upcoming World Cup, arguing that matches should not be played in that country and that countries should refuse to participate. With only three months until June, the increasing backlash raises questions about whether such a thing is even possible.

Could FIFA President Gianni Infantino dare to do this? In a world where UK Prime Minister Starmer, who said, “I am protecting the interests of the country. That’s why I won’t let Trump use UK bases,” could so easily make a U-turn, Infantino is unlikely to dare. Perhaps countries could make this decision individually, but the number of countries that would do so because of Iran would likely be no more than 3-5. Holding the matches in Mexico is also one of the first choices for those protesting.

There are also mass anti-Trump demonstrations scheduled for March 28th in America. It remains to be seen how Trump will react if turnout increases at the “No to the King” rally, which will also feature stars like Robert De Niro.

Trump doesn’t care about the world, and he’s unlikely to care about the World Cup either. He might even say, “If they don’t come, they don’t come.” Trump, who doesn’t even know what he’s doing, has Americans held hostage, and the people are waiting with their heads held high for the executioner to strike them off.
