“No to the King” rallies continue in the USA. While all Americans are invited to the large march scheduled for March 28th, one of the most important figures is the famous actor Robert De Niro. De Niro, whose statements are constantly published on social media, called on millions of Americans to participate in the peaceful march, saying “America must be right again.”
De Niro’s stance shows a very important point. While Hollywood actors, whose lives are only about making money, remain silent about the fundamental problems of the country, constantly talking about the helicopters, planes, villas, and mansions they acquire, De Niro is taking responsibility and fighting against what he calls “the kings of corruption,” starting with Trump.
An artist is a witness to the age. They don’t exist solely to make money. They carry the past to the present, and the present to the future. In doing so, they aim for the ideal. Art is about finding the ideal and conveying it to the people, helping them to move forward. Art is not just about making money. Art made only for money is not art. Art exists for the people and for the ideal. The purpose is to expose the mistakes of the people, to criticize the rulers, and to build a bridge between the people and the rulers.
De Niro is doing something very important with his stance. He is explaining how an artist should be, despite kings, the importance of democracy and parliament, and saying, “America must return to normal.” With Trump, the USA is truly emerging with a new scandal every day. There is a president who constantly creates crises. A president who thrives on crises, and he is making the masses prisoners of these crises. It became particularly clear after the Iran war that Trump is not free in his decisions; he is especially subservient to Israel. Netanyahu is controlling him. Despite dozens of warnings from the intelligence services, such as “Iran is not producing nuclear weapons, it’s not an imminent danger. We shouldn’t get involved in this war,” he listened to no one but Netanyahu, and now the economy is forgotten in the USA. Everything is shaped by Trump’s new agenda.
De Niro is someone who notices this and tries to explain it to the public. But Trump supporters, those with far-right leanings, always see themselves as the smartest and most righteous. Those who resist change the most are often the ones who always consider themselves the smartest. The war with Iran is expected to change at least them. We’ll see.
