Some might think we’re joking when we say Chancellor Rachel Reeves is out of touch with reality, but it’s not a joke; Reeves really is unaware of what’s happening in the country. She’s in charge of the economy, but she’s clueless about the state of the country’s economy. Just three weeks ago, it was reported that she considered introducing extra taxes on pubs because she saw the crowds inside and thought the pub owners were making a lot of money. She abandoned the idea after backlash from Labour MPs.

She’s unaware of the rents in the country. She doesn’t know the business rates, she doesn’t know how much staff costs are. She’s also unaware of how much food and drink prices have increased.
Three weeks later, she’s started providing extra support for pubs. She announced a £300 million support package. But despite this, the number of pubs closing in the country continues to rise. In the last 10 years, nearly 5,000 pubs have closed, with rising rents, business rates, staff costs, food, and energy prices rapidly increasing the number of closures. According to news reports, hundreds of pubs are closing, and nearly 3,000 people will join the ranks of the unemployed.
Someone within the ruling party needs to inform the Chancellor and Prime Minister Starmer about the country’s economic situation; they are truly unaware. Therefore, they have no solution packages.
