FIFA’s job is not to rip off public with tickets, but bring spectators to stadium.

The Football Supporters’ Union said FIFA President Gianni Infantino should focus on producing “cheap tickets” for the 2026 World Cup instead of making “cheap jokes” about English fans. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland on Thursday, Infantino stated that it was “really special” that no English citizens were arrested during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Instead of using his brain and responding to criticism, Infantino has started using his mouth. He’s making jokes about English fans, but he probably didn’t laugh at his own joke.

FIFA’s job is to help fans, not to make exorbitant profits from football match tickets. They already make incredible amounts of money from sponsorships and stadium advertising. Despite this, it’s foolish of them to still keep ticket prices high and try to justify it by pointing to the ticket prices at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

FIFA cannot act like a club. It is an international organization, and its aim is to increase football viewership and attract more fans. Getting into arguments with English fans is not one of FIFA’s general duties.
