Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated today that despite Trump’s threats of 100% tariffs, they will continue with the trade agreement with China. In other words, he hasn’t backed down despite Trump’s threats. Because Carney knows that the USA needs Canada as much as Canada needs the USA. Canada has a huge advantage in China, a large market from which they can sell and buy as much as they want. There’s no need to fear.
Trump is still acting like the world’s sheriff, interfering in the internal affairs of countries and giving orders to leaders. Carney’s persistent stance sends an important message to Trump: a country that is hostile even towards its allies is actually pushing these allies into China’s arms. This is the reality. Countries that are beginning to fear Trump’s tariff threats are drawing closer to China and engaging with this large market. Trump doesn’t have enough foresight to see this yet, but he will realize it very soon.
Trump previously suggested that Canada, one of the world’s most important countries, should join the USA and become one of its states. Ridiculous, of course: even Trump himself probably didn’t laugh at that joke. And now, the UK has begun to expand its limited relations with China. The recent extensive embassy building permit granted to China is enough to show this reality.
Trump is trying to create his own United Nations, classifying and governing countries, but he forgets: there are honorable countries in the world. And honorable leaders of those countries…
