On Sunday, pressure mounted on the Donald Trump administration to fully investigate the death of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti, who was killed the previous day in Minneapolis by federal immigration officers. The pressure may have increased, but Trump is still preoccupied with defending his own police clique. No investigation will be opened. Even if one were, it would only serve to silence the people of Minnesota and be forgotten over time.
Meanwhile, the silence of other states is incomprehensible. Trump’s police have essentially begun to see and treat everyone as a terrorist. The American people must react to this. The same problem could happen to them. It seems these ICE (Internal Security Service) officers have the authority to kill without question. They’ve received guarantees from Trump. Whether immigrant or not, anyone who comes before them and resists even slightly, they immediately resort to their weapons.
Where are the American police officers from the movies? The brave officers who care about people’s lives, who put themselves in harm’s way? These ICE officers, if they hear a fox bark in the distance, immediately grab their weapons and start firing indiscriminately. The ICE police’s job is simply to kill and use violence. If the states don’t react to this, they won’t be able to remove Trump from power with this police force. They may have voted for him, but resisting Trump could also be their downfall.
Is Trump paying ICE police officers extra salaries? That’s the real question that needs to be asked.
