The US is ‘disappointed’ that Rolls-Royce will build the UK’s first small modular reactors. The Trump administration had previously announced that reactors would be built by companies it had previously contracted with, but Starmer’s decision to build new reactors angered the US government. US Ambassador Warren Stephens expressed disappointment in a statement, saying the UK government’s decision on new energy reactors was unacceptable. You can read the details of the news here.
Because US President Trump sees himself as the natural leader of every country, he can easily make decisions without consulting or contacting the Starmer government. And then he expects the government to comply with these decisions. He treats small Arab countries similarly to the incompetent leaders of the EU, thus satisfying his own ego, but when he encounters a different situation in the UK, he sees himself as being crushed and losing his authority.
Someone needs to explain to Trump: The UK is a country unto itself. While relations with the US are good, this does not mean that the US will govern the UK. We have our own interests, too, and we must protect our own companies and provide the maximum benefit to our own people. If the Trump administration wants, they can build their own energy reactor facilities. No one is stopping them.
Trump may have Pinocchios around him. Pinocchios and clowns… Their job is to make Trump feel good at all times by lying, exaggerating, and stroking his ego.
