Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he considered the visits of US ambassadors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and their visits to Kyiv as “disrespectful.”
He is absolutely right. The US delegation should have also visited Ukraine and heard its views, but Zelenskyy should also consider the reason for this. Because the USA and Trump, who constantly provide money, have no chance of taking seriously a country that has become their slave through money and weapons. A mentality that says, “It’s already a country dependent on us, without us, Ukraine wouldn’t exist,” cannot possibly take Ukraine seriously. Ukraine and Zelenskyy have surrendered their entire existence to the support of the West through US aid. This means, “If others are giving you money, they have every right over you, and not taking you seriously is one of them.”
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy’s constant visits to Middle Eastern countries and his announcements about providing drone aid to countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain are another problem. A country that couldn’t end its own war, by taking sides in the Iran war, essentially made itself a party to the war, and a country already at war has no choice but to lose in a second war. However, Zelensky’s support for US allies in the Gulf to please the USA is one of the main reasons for the destruction of his own reputation. A country that has been at war for years should have supported peace rather than taking sides in the Iran war, but he did the exact opposite. He fell into the same mistake that Western leaders once made. He thought that being an ally of the USA at every opportunity, unconditionally supporting everything that country did, would save him, but he was too inexperienced to understand that the USA is not that kind of country. The USA and Trump are countries that can easily betray their own allies when the time and place are right. And every time they get involved with America, it only harms their own countries.
Zelensky and Ukraine may be dependent on this country for money and weapons, but this does not mean they should be enslaved. It should not be forgotten that the USA supports Ukraine not for Ukraine and its people, but to contain Russia and reduce its regional power. Ukraine and its people are not even on the minds of the USA and its leaders. The USA is a country that could abandon Zelensky and his country if necessary.
